RE: Need CB help

Unless we're traveling with someone I take the antenna down and store it in a compartment.. We don't use it that much anymore.. I use a K-30 magnet base and run the cord thru the drivers window..It will talk about 3 to 5 mile barefoot.. Our radio is an old J. C. Penney's made by Midland.. We have had it since 1979.. It was tweaked at a shop in Huntington, Indiana and puts out about 20 watts if I remember correctly..

battery hold down straps

Hi, what's anyone using to replace broken hold down straps for your batteries?? I'm having trouble with the plastic buckles breaking..I've gotten alittle bigger buckle at Ace Hardware and they broke too.. There's not that much tension on the straps.. Our batteries are not on a slideout tray, they're fixed in the compartment..Just thought someone might have a better idea.. Thanks..

RE: Slide Gaskets Not Properly Deploying

I installed a 1" wide rough rubber non-skid tape within an inch of the rubber molding on the slide and it has worked every time so far.. Don't get the kind with sandpaper type nonskid it will sand the molding and damage it.. I got mine at Ace Hardware.. You can buy it by the foot or a whole roll(60').. Hope this helps..

RE: support under the leveler feet

I went to Lowe's and got exterior plywood Already cut to 2' squares 3/4" thick and sandwitched two with drywall screws and carpenters glue, painted them with outside latex( three coats ), a handle on one side.. Had about $12 in each.. They worked great so far..

RE: How old our your tires?

We have GY G169's that are 5 years 5 months old with 31,500 miles on them and they will be replaced before we go South this winter.. I not one to take chances and for sure don't want a blow out along the interstate and damage to the RV.. Just our thoughts..

RE: Good Cummins Coach Care experience

You can add the one in Elkhart, Indiana to your list of good Coach Care shops.. Since the service center closed we have used this shop twice and was very happy.. They have six camping spots out behind so you can come in the day before, which we like that way you're there and don't have to get up early and move.. They are also an Onan distributer/dealer..

RE: End Cap Seal Issue

Is this the 3 or 4 inch wide tape they use to join/seal the cap and roof?? Is it just the foil paper on the top of the tape or the whole tape?? We have had the foil paper come off of the sticky tape and they said it doesn't hurt anything.. I used furance foil duct tape and put back on the sticky tape then used self leveling caulk on the front edge so when we're going down the road so the air doesn't pull it back off.. As someone else said the best thing is to get it back to the dealer or a service center and have it fixed under warranty.. Ours was/is out of warranty that's why we fixed it ourselves.. It did not leak just looked bad..

RE: Do you use your washing/dryer machine?

We use it all the time..Wife uses racks to dry alot of things.. So the long drying thing doesn't come into play.. We wouldn't be without it..

RE: Dash Mat

Yes, we have and it is great.. We had a make shift cover from throw rugs and they slid all around.. But this fits perfect and doesn't move.. And it is blue, my wife loves anything blue.. Go for it you'll be glad you did..

RE: XC Chassis 300 HP Cummins ISB - Operating Temp

We have the same engine(300 hp) and ours runs right at 200 degrees, has sense new.. It may go alittle above when we are in hotter weather with high humidity..

RE: Using clothes washer/dryer while on the road???

Got ours(Splendide) about 2 years ago and the manual says do not do this in bold print.. You could damage the suspension system.. So we don't..

RE: MCD Innovations sun screen

I vote for Prompt RV screens too.. We have the interior MCD screens and use them with the outside screens when we set in direct sun on the windshield..

RE: 02 Holiday Rambler Ambassador M-36 PBD

Sounds as though it could be a nice coach?? Are you sure it has the 6 speed instead of the 5 speed.. Most of the 300 hp(B engines)came with the 5 speed I think.. It would be simalar to our Neptune which we like very much sense we live in it most of the time.. We did take one side of the booth out to give us more room.. We will be replacing our tires before we head South this winter..They still look good but we don't want a blow out on the road if we can help it..If you get it, be sure and look into the Holiday Rambler Recreation Club(HRRVC) club if you like that sort of thing..Good luck..

RE: GOODYEAR tires

169's came on our coach new in '03(255X70X22.5).. So far we have had no problems, they have 35,000 miles on them.. We are looking to change them before we head South this winter because of they'll be 5 and one half years old.. We were looking at the G670's at $435 a piece..But it would be something to think about for $600 to stay with ther 169's..

RE: Plazma or LCD

Well we were looking at a Panasonic 42" Plasma, but now I think we'll go back and look at the LCD's in 42" and see what they are like..I did find on the web that the above TV uses 573 watts compared to our old 36" that used around 65 watts is alot more electricity.. I haven't found what LCD's use..Thanks for all replies..

Plazma or LCD

What's the difference between Plasma and LCD?? I was told at a Best Buy that the Plasma run hotter and take more electricity than LCD, but you get a better picture?? There was a definite difference in pictures..You can't lay Plasma down.. What about longevity?? And maintenance?? They also said something about calibrating after you run the Plasma awhile, what's that?? Cost $300 at your house..Thanks for your replies..

RE: Water leak in 2007 Holiday Rambler

If your TV antenna is above or in that vacinity on the roof, I would check it, when it is down and when it is up.. We fought the same leak and that's what it turned out to be..Good luck.. PS: don't use regular caulking, it will not stay as a roof sealant..Get the stuff that is used by the manufacture at the factory..I have some on the RV but I don't remember the name, we are away from it right know so if you need that let me know.. Most RV dealers carry it..

lower MPG w/ULSF

Hi, has anyone noticed a drop in mileage since the switch to ULSF?? We went from 9.7-9.9 to 9.2-9.3.. Power seems to be about the same, but who knows without putting it on a dynamo.. Just wondering.. Thanks..
